Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is targeting a new right and left-back this summer and is still interested in Tottenham’s Danny Rose, reports The Guardian.
Mourinho is planning for another summer of sweeping changes with the likes of Luke Shaw, Daley Blind, Marouane Fellaini, Matteo Darmian and Anthony Martial all linked with moves away.
Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young have both nailed down regular starting berths this season but both are the wrong side of 30 and need replacing sooner rather than later.
As well as bolstering his midfield options, Mourinho wants to sign two new full-backs this summer and is still keen on prising Rose away from Tottenham at the end of the season.
Rose has been heavily linked with a move away from Tottenham all season after hitting out at the club’s transfer policy last summer, but he has struggled to regain top form and fitness since returning from a serious knee injury.
It has also been well documented that the 27-year-old wants to move north to be closer to home, but Tottenham will drive a hard deal with any team interested in signing the England international.
Tottenham sold Kyle Walker to Manchester City for £50m last summer and Mauricio Pochettino’s side will demand a similar fee for Rose this time around despite his on-going problems.
Rose has only started seven Premier League matches this season since returning from a nine-month injury lay-off in October, garnering a WhoScored rating of 6.83.
Awful move if United fork out £50m for him. Been terrible since coming back from a serious knee injury. Not played anywhere near a £50m player.
