Toffees look to Russia to boost midfield

Everton have made CSKA Moscow midfielder Alan Dzagoev a January target, reports the Liverpool Echo.

Toffees director of football Steve Walsh ran the rule over the 26-year-old in CSKA’s 3-1 loss to Tottenham on Wednesday though, though will have been impressed with Dzagoev’s goal.

Everton are now exploring their chances of signing the Russia international in January with the club reportedly in talks with the player’s representatives earlier this week.

Dzagoev has also been attracting interest from Premier League rivals West Ham, though Everton have the financial power to convince the midfielder to shun a move to the London Stadium in favour of Goodison Park.

Ronald Koeman is keen to inject some creativity in the midfield, with Dzagoev an ideal target for the Dutchman as he looks to overhaul his squad.

With James McCarthy linked with a January move away from the Toffees, Koeman is keen to strengthen in the middle of the park and Dzagoev fits the bill.
