Bayern Munich will be without first choice goalkeeper Manuel Neuer for their Champions League match against FC Rostov on Wednesday.
Neuer has picked up a calf injury since Bayern’s 1-0 defeat to Borussia Dortmund on Saturday and Carlo Ancelotti’s side have confirmed the Germany international will not travel with the squad to Russia.
The reigning Bundesliga champions are under pressure after making an underwhelming start to life under Ancelotti and must overcome a tricky fixture away in Russia to keep their realistic hopes alive of overtaking Atletico Madrid to top Group D in the Champions League.
Bayern are three points behind Atletico and host the Spanish side in the last round of group stage matches, but must now overcome Rostov without Neuer, with 28-year-old Sven Ulreich set to deputise in Wednesday’s early kick off.
In the last three Champions League campaigns only nine players have won possession in the defensive third more times than Neuer (65).
