Middlesbrough have asked Manchester United about the possibility of taking Andreas Pereira on a season-long loan deal, according to The Daily Mail.
Pereira, 20, has flirted with the United first team for the last two seasons but has failed to make any real impact under the last two managers.
The Belgium-born midfielder is one of a number of United players that isn’t expected to feature in Jose Mourinho’s plans for the coming season and Boro are hopeful of taking advantage of the situation.
Pereira is still highly rated at Old Trafford and a loan option would seem the best solution for him this season, where he can continue to develop in the Premier League.
Only Anderson (20 mins) required fewer minutes per key pass in the last two Premier League campaigns for United than Pereira (31 mins).
