Jordan Henderson has flown out to the United States to see a specialist for treatment on a heel problem that has kept him out of Liverpool’s last three matches.
The Liverpool captain flew to New York with club doctor Andy Massey on Monday where he will visit specialist Dr James Cozzarelli for treatment on the injury.
Henderson, 25, was forced off during Liverpool’s 1-0 victory over newly promoted Bournemouth midway through August and has not featured for club or country since.
Liverpool have struggled in his absence, suffering back-to-back defeats to West Ham Untied and Manchester United either side of the international break. In fact, since the start of the 2013/14 campaign, no Liverpool player has made more assists than Henderson (16).
