Arsenal are hopeful that Shkodran Mustafi can convince Mesut Ozil to commit his future to the club, according to The Daily Mirror.
Mustafi, 24, arrived from Valencia in a £35m deal on deadline day to help bolster Arsene Wenger’s defensive options.
However, Wenger also hopes to use the Germany international to convince his good friend and international teammate Ozil to stay on.
The 27-year-old has entered the final two years of his existing deal and any new contract is likely to see the former Real Madrid creator earn towards £200,000-a-week.
In the last three Premier League campaigns Ozil has created more chances than any other player (219).
