Rafa Benitez is set to reunite with former Newcastle striker Salomon Rondon at Chinese Super League outfit Dalian Yifang, reports The Daily Telegraph.
Benitez signed Rondon on a season-long loan deal at Newcastle last term and the Venezuela international was a huge success for the Magpies.
One of the reasons Benitez left Newcastle at the start of the month was over Rondon’s future.
Newcastle were unwilling to sign the 29-year-old on a permanent deal and now Benitez’s new club, Dalian Yifang, are set to sign the West Brom striker.
Rondon, who is set to sign a three-year deal with Dalian Yifang worth an eye watering £8m-a-year in wages, is due in China to formalise a transfer by the end of the week.
Rondon scored 11 goals and provided seven assists for Newcastle last season, which represented 42.9% of the goals the Magpies scored in the Premier League.
He did, however, have an aerial duel success rate of just 38.4% in the Premier League last season and only one player lost more aerial duels than the Newcastle frontman (234).
