Barcelona have allegedly beaten off competition from Roma to land Brazilian prospect Gerson from Fluminense, according to Sport.
The 18-year-old is one of the most exciting talents currently plying their trade in South America and has courted interest from a host of big European clubs this summer.
Gerson had looked set to join Roma after the Italian side had an offer accepted in the region of €15m, but the player’s father has since informed the Giallorossi his son’s heart is set on a move to Barcelona.
The Brazilian attacking midfielder has made 15 appearances in the Brasileirão this season, laying on three assists. The La Liga champions will reportedly wrap up a deal to sign the starlet in the coming days.
