Enner Valencia’s agent has revealed the West Ham forward has been approached with an attractive offer by Lazio regarding a move to Italy this summer.
West Ham signed Valencia in a £12m move following his impressive performances for Ecuador at the 2014 World Cup but the forward has failed to settle.
The 26-year-old is keen to leave the Hammers and his agent, Gonzalo Vargas, has confirmed they will hold talks with West Ham after receiving an attractive offer from Lazio.
“We’re going to England in the next few days with Enner to talk to West Ham,” Vargas told Lalaziosiamonoi.it, via ESPN. “He wants to leave, although he is not making an obsession out of it because, unlike some reports, he does have a good relationship both with the coach and with his teammates.
“He wants to play at the top – in Italy, Spain or England – and the decision over his future will be determined 100 percent by sporting elements and not economic ones.
“Lazio have shown a real interest and that’s an option that Enner is particularly keen on. Roma also like him, but only Lazio have made a move through their management. West Ham want to recoup the outlay on him, but Enner is not interested in that.”
Valencia still has three years remaining on his existing deal with West Ham and Slaven Bilic is keen to keep hold of him for next season despite struggling for fitness and a place in the starting XI last season.
The Ecuadoran was a revelation during his first season at West Ham but he could only manage 10 starts in the league last season compared to 25 during his maiden campaign. Nevertheless, he still scored four goals this season, the same he managed in 32 appearances during his first year at the club.
