Joe Hart has conceded there is little hope of him ever playing for Manchester City again as a summer exit beckons.
The England international has spent the season on loan with Torino in Serie A after dropping down the pecking order under Pep Guardiola at the start of the campaign.
Hart’s future beyond the end of the current season remains up in the air but it would almost certainly appear it is away from the Etihad after the goalkeeper conceded himself that he is surplus to requirements under Guardiola.
“I’d say I’m pretty much surplus to requirements at my parent club at the moment,” Hart told BBC Sport. When asked whether that could change, Hart wasn’t optimistic: “Not really,” he continued. “I’ve got to be realistic. I love that club and I’ve always said that as long as they wanted me, I would be there.
“But I was always cautious when I said that because I’m aware that at the big, big clubs stuff can change quickly, as can opinions and people in charge. Not everyone is going to like you, not everyone is going to want to play you and that’s the business side of it, which I’ve grown into and I’m certainly not going to take personally.
“I want to play football, I love to play football so if that opportunity is not going to be given there then I’m going to have to look elsewhere and may have to make somewhere else my home.”
Hart has been a relative hit since joining Torino on loan and the club would like to retain his services, although the finances that any deal would require would appear to be beyond the Serie A side at this moment in time.
However, only two players have committed more errors that have led to a shot on goal for the opposition than Hart in Serie A this season (4).
