Enrique may favour the Arsenal job over Chelsea, reports claim
Chelsea could yet face competition from a Premier League for their top managerial target Luis Enrique this summer, according to The Daily Star.
The former Barcelona boss has been tipped to take the reins from Antonio Conte at Stamford Bridge, with the Italian expected to be on his way out of the club following a disappointing second season.
The Blues have reportedly earmarked Enrique as the man they want to take the helm ahead of next season, but the latest rumours suggest that the Spaniard is keen to keep an eye on the situation at Arsenal too.
Arsene Wenger, after all, is also under real pressure to keep his job at the Emirates, with the Gunners looking likely to end the campaign in their lowest ever position under the Frenchman.
Chelsea’s London rivals are thought to be keeping their options open and assessing potential replacements in the meantime, and the former Spain international would perhaps favour the security that the Arsenal job may offer.
The owners of the reigning Premier League champions have a trigger happy reputation for firing managers after all, so there may yet be a battle for the services of the unemployed ex-Barca boss yet.
