Liverpool interested in surprise swoop for West Ham forward

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is a huge admirer of West Ham winger Jarrod Bowen, claims The Athletic.

Klopp wants to spruce up Liverpool's attacking options this summer but will first need to offload the likes of Xherdan Shaqiri and Divock Origi.

Liverpool banked nearly £20m in player sales on Tuesday alone and more are set to leave before Klopp can start strengthening.

Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah have all entered the final two years of their current Liverpool deals at which point they will all be 31.

It has now emerged Liverpool may consider a surprise move for Bowen to help freshen things up next season.

The 24-year-old has spent the last 18 months at West Ham after joining from Championship side Hull in January 2020.

Bowen has developed into an integral player under David Moyes and the West Ham manager would be reluctant to lose him on top of missing out on Manchester United's Jesse Lingard.

Last season was Bowen's first full campaign at West Ham and he concluded it with 13 goal involvements (eight goals, five assists).

No player was subbed off more times in the Premier League last season than Bowen (24), as lasting the 90 minutes proved an issue.
