Manchester United will discuss Louis van Gaal’s future at the club in the New Year, according to the Guardian.
Van Gaal, 64, is due to retire at the end of next season but United are suggested to be open to extending his stay at Old Trafford.
The Dutchman has hit his first sticky patch as United boss since taking over at the start of the last campaign, with fans becoming increasingly despondent to what they are seeing out on the pitch.
It emerged over the weekend that United were not interested in Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola and remain happy with the progress the club are making under Van Gaal.
The Red Devils are due to face Wolfsburg on Tuesday night in what could prove a defining match in Van Gaal’s United career. His side must beat the German outfit to guarantee their progression to the knockout stages of the competition and anything but a win could prove the final straw for United fans.
United go into the match having drawn 0-0 in five of their last nine matches in all competitions.
