Chelsea defender set for Palace move to free up Dann switch to Fulham
Gary Cahill and Scott Dann are set to switch west for south London respectively before the transfer window closes on Thursday, The Sun reports.
The Chelsea club captain has been linked with a move all month but had not been tempted by any of the offers that came his way, though interest from Crystal Palace is set to change that.
Fulham had wanted to sign the 33-year-old as they aim to patch up their porous defence but Claudio Ranieri confirmed that he was unconvinced Cahill wanted to aid in their bid to stave off the threat of relegation.
It seems, however, that the veteran centre-back is willing to partake in a relegation battle at Palace in a move that would see him reunited with former England boss Roy Hodgson.
Having been seemingly rebuffed in their approach for Cahill, Fulham reportedly switched their attentions to Eagles centre-back Scott Dann, and it’s a move Palace are willing to sanction providing they sign a replacement.
Cahill now looks set to be that man, with a loan move in the offing but both parties are open to a permanent switch, though that is most likely to be made at the end of the season.
The former England international hasn’t started a single league game under Maurizio Sarri, while Dann - following a long-term injury, has failed to force his way back into the first team at Palace and is also yet to start in England’s top-flight this season.
