Liverpool are tracking Franck Kessie amid uncertainty about his long-term future at AC Milan, reports Gazzetta dello Sport.
Kessie has entered the final 12 months of his current Milan deal and is demanding bumper new terms to renew.
The Ivory Coast international is currently away at the Tokyo Olympics and contract talks with Milan have slowed as a result.
Kessie was a standout performer for Milan last season and wants his new terms to reflect his importance to the club.
His preference is to remain at Milan but time is running out for the Serie A giants to resolve his future otherwise he could in theory walk away for nothing next summer.
Liverpool are on the market for a new midfielder after losing Gini Wijnaldum to Paris Saint-Germain and they are interested in Kessie if he becomes available.
Kessie scored more penalties than any other player in Europe's top 5 leagues last season (11) and more than 92 of the other 97 teams.
