Bayern Munich ponder Coutinho move

Bayern Munich are interested in signing Barcelona midfielder Philippe Coutinho, claims MARCA.

Coutinho is free to leave Barcelona this summer as the Spanish giants try to make room for Neymar’s return from Paris Saint-Germain.

Barcelona spent £142m to sign Coutinho from Liverpool 18 months ago but the Brazil international has failed to make a positive impact.

The LaLiga champions had hoped to use the Premier League to offload Coutinho but the 27-year-old was only interested in returning to Liverpool.

Coutinho turned down Tottenham’s advances out of respect to his former club but Jurgen Klopp’s side never made an offer.

Bayern have enquired to Barcelona about the Brazilian but no negotiations have taken place.

Bayern have announced the arrival of Inter winger Ivan Perisic on a season-long loan deal to help fill the void left by both Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben.

Niko Kovac’s side would ideally like to sign another winger and while Coutinho can play wide left his best position is centrally.

Barcelona, meanwhile, are hoping to use Coutinho as a makeweight in a deal with PSG that would see Neymar move back to the Camp Nou.

Neymar is unlikely to play for PSG until his future is resolved and there is a chance he has already played his final game for the club.

Coutinho has played a direct hand in 20 goals in 42 league appearances (13 goals, seven assists) for Barcelona.
