Barcelona re-sign Suarez

Barcelona sporting director Robert Fernandez has confirmed the club will re-sign Denis Suarez from Villarreal in the summer.

Suarez, 22 was sold to Villarreal on a four-year deal last summer but Barcelona ensured a buy-back agreement was inserted into the deal to allow them to sign him back for a reported €3.25m (£2.5m).

Barcelona are looking to bolster their offensive options this summer after a dip in form in April saw them eliminated in the Champions League quarter-finals and almost throw away the league.

Luis Enrique’s side tried to re-sign Suarez in January but were turned away by Villarreal but have re-signed the Spain Under-21 international, according to Fernandez.

“Villarreal have received a notification that we are interested in the player, I think it’s July 1 but I don’t know the dates very well,” Fernandez is quoted as saying by FourFourTwo. “And on July 1 he will be notified that he will be recovered.”
