Tottenham looking to land Atalanta pair

Tottenham are in advanced negotiations to sign Atalanta pair Cristian Romero and Pierluigi Gollini, according to Football.London.

Spurs are looking to sign at least one new centre-back this summer and they have been linked with moves for Lyon's Joachim Andersen and Sevilla's Jules Kounde.

However, new director of football Fabio Paratici is believed to have a strong interest in Argentine centre-back Romero, who he signed for Juventus from Genoa two years ago.

Romero played a key role for Argentina at the 2021 Copa America, starring in clean sheet wins over Uruguay, Paraguay and Brazil.

The 23-year-old is currently halfway through a two-year loan deal with Atalanta, but the Serie A side are tipped to exercise their option to buy the youngster and then sell to Spurs for a healthy profit this summer.

Gollini, meanwhile, was first choice for Atalanta last season, starting 25 of 38 matches for the Italian outfit, and is viewed as the successor to Hugo Lloris at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The 26-year-old was briefly on the books for Aston Villa before returning to Italy in 2017.
