Everton tracking Serie A starlet as potential Lukaku replacement
Everton are monitoring Giovanni Simeone’s progress at Genoa for the remainder of the season as they plan for potential replacements for want away striker Romelu Lukaku, reports Italian outlet Tuttomercato.
Lukaku, 23, has sensationally revealed he wants to leave Everton at the end of the season in search of a team that can compete for major titles leaving Ronald Koeman’s side stunned.
Everton have no desire to sell the Belgium international and Koeman has already warned the striker the club will not be told what to do by any player, pointing to the fact Lukaku has two years remaining on his existing deal.
However, the Toffees won’t want to let the striker run down his contract and leave for nothing and are now expected to cash in on the former Chelsea striker, leaving Koeman to search for some potential replacements.
As a result, Everton are now interested in Simeone, who is the son of Atletico Madrid manager Diego. The Argentina Under-23 international has enjoyed a hugely impressive debut campaign for Serie A outfit Genoa this season and is already being tipped for a big money move to another European side.
In fact, only Dele Alli (13) and Timo Werner (14) have scored more goals of players aged 21 and under in Europe’s top five leagues than Simeone (10) this season.
