Bayern Munich boss confident Man Utd target will sign new deal
Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann is confident Leon Goretzka will put questions about his future to bed and sign a new deal with the club.
The Germany international has entered the final 12 months of his current Bayern deal and has a huge offer on the table from Manchester United.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side are eyeing Goretzka on a free transfer next summer but may test Bayern's resolve this month if Paul Pogba forces a move to Paris Saint-Germain.
Goretzka's camp have grown frustrated with the speed of talks, or lack of, with Bayern over his new contract but Nagelsmann believes a resolution is just around the corner.
"I'm not involved enough that I have a say every day. I stay out of these issues," Eurosport quote Nagelsmann as saying after their pre-season friendly with Napoli at the weekend.
"Of course I have talked to him about my plans for him. I've told him I'd be happy if he extended and I'm also confident. There are several topics involved when it comes to discussing a contract extension.
"I'll continue to focus on the sports side of things and show him he can be on the most dangerous midfielders in Europe. He has potential to get even better."

Bayern signed Goretzka from Bundesliga rivals Schalke on a free transfer in 2018 but has never really been a first-team regular for the Bundesliga giants.
The 26-year-old underwent a remarkable physical transformation during the pandemic last year and is now a hugely imposing box-to-box midfielder.
