Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero has denied there is a rift with Pep Guardiola and insists he is not thinking about a move to Real Madrid.
Aguero, 28, has been linked with a move away from City after being dropped to the bench in their 4-0 defeat away to Barcelona in the Champions League last month.
Guardiola has also been very vocal in expressing he wants more from Aguero on the pitch other than his obvious goalscoring ability, but the Argentina international has denied there is a problem in their relationship and would only leave the club to return to Argentina to join Independiente.
“There’s long been rumours about Real Madrid but the truth is that I’m very happy at City, especially with the arrival of Pep,” Aguero told ESPN FC Radio in Argentina, via The Guardian.
“He’s helping me a lot to grow as a player and we speak a lot. I’m happy at City and I hope to finish my contract and return to Independiente.”
Aguero still has three years remaining on his existing deal and Guardiola had revealed he thought the striker was poised to sign an extension in September, although that still hasn’t happened.
Since joining City in 2011, Aguero is the only player to have scored more than 100 goals in the Premier League and has scored at least 32 more than any other player (110).
