Barcelona are interested in making Everton manager Ronald Koeman their next manager when Luis Enrique is relieved of his first-team duties, reports SportItalia, via AS.
Koeman, 53, spent six highly successful years as a player at Barcelona were he and has made no secret in hiding the fact he wants to return to the Camp Nou as manager in the future.
The Dutchman, who won four league titles and the European cup as a player at Barcelona during the 90s, only replaced Roberto Martinez as manager at Everton during the summer and has made a stumbling start to life at Goodison Park.
Koeman’s side have only won four of their last 16 matches in all competitions but Barcelona have reportedly made contact about succeeding Enrique nonetheless.
Barcelona have not renewed Enrique’s deal despite the fact the 46-year-old has won the league title in each of his first two years at the club, as well as landing the Champions League in his first year.
The Spanish giants have already announced they will not hold renewal talks with Enrique until the end of this season, and while it is understood they would like him to stay for another campaign, his future beyond that is still in doubt.
