Neymar fuels stunning Manchester City switch

Neymar has put Manchester City on red alert after revealing he wants to work with Pep Guardiola in the future.

The Brazil international, who is recovering from a serious ankle injury in time for the 2018 World Cup, only joined Paris Saint-Germain from Barcelona for a world record fee last summer.

Neymar has been heavily linked with a move away from PSG all season, with Real Madrid keen on brokering a stunning deal for the 26-year-old.

However, City have now been given hope in their pursuit of a marquee forward this summer after Neymar revealed his desire to work with Guardiola.

“I’ve always wanted to work with Guardiola. He’s different,” Neymar told ESPN Brazil, via Sky Sports. “I really want to work with him.”

Guardiola left Barcelona 12 months before Neymar moved to the Spanish giants from Santos in 2013, while their paths have only crossed on opposing teams on four occasions since then.

The City manager has been assured of funds to bolster his Premier League-winning squad over the summer but it still seems implausible they could prise Neymar away from PSG.

Injury ended Neymar’s first season for PSG at the end of February. The Brazilian was enjoying a breathtaking campaign prior to that, playing a direct hand in 32 goals in 20 league games (19 goals, 13 assists).
