Manchester City star to wait until the summer to act on future
Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero insists he wants to see out the remainder of his contract at the club but will wait until the summer before making a decision on his future.
Aguero’s current deal isn’t due to expire until 2019 but the Argentina international is no longer guaranteed a first-team spot following Gabriel Jesus’ incredible start to life at the club.
Jesus, 19, has scored three goals in his last two appearances for City, both of which Aguero has started from the bench and this had led to speculation linking City’s all-time record Premier League goalscorer with a summer exit.
However, Aguero insists he is still happy despite losing his place in the team to City’s new £27m arrival but he will wait to hear where he fits into Guardiola’s long-term vision before making a decision on his future at the end of the season.
“I have to help the team as much as I can in these three months. Afterwards we’ll see what the club wants to do with me,” The Daily Mail quote Aguero as saying.
“I want to stay, of course. In three years my contract is up, that’s why I say I’m happy. We’ll see what happens in the future.”
Since joining City from Atletico Madrid in 2011, Aguero is the only player to have scored more than 100 goals in the Premier League (113).
