West Brom want to hand Sam Allardyce a route back into management by making the former England boss Tony Pulis’ replacement, reports The Daily Mirror.
The Baggies sacked Pulis on Monday after nearly three years in charge of the club and have already started the search for his successor with the likes of Alan Pardew linked with the vacant post.
However, West Brom’s Chinese owners are reportedly worried about being relegated and are seriously considering a move for Allardyce, who has a proven record of keeping clubs in the Premier League.
Allardyce was heavily linked with the vacant Everton post earlier this month before ruling himself out of the running after talks with the Toffees went cold.
The 63-year-old has been out of work since steering Crystal Palace clear of the bottom three last season but is open to coming out of retirement if the right offer comes along.
West Brom are currently one point above the bottom three and have only won two of their last 21 Premier League matches.
