Everton sign Napoli ace Allan in £25m deal

Everton have confirmed the arrival of Napoli midfielder Allan for a reported £25m.

Allan has put pen to paper on a three-year deal running until the summer of 2023 with the Merseysiders.

Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti has sounded out a reunion with the Brazilian midfielder in order to boost his midfield options for the new season.

Ancelotti worked with Allan during his 18-month stint as Napoli manager up until December 2019.

The 29-year-old was once regarded one of the most underrated midfielders in Serie A but his reputation has dipped in the last year.

Allan fell completely down the pecking order under Gennaro Gattuso last season and managed just 16 starts and seven substitute appearances in Serie A.

Napoli rejected a €65m bid for Allan from Paris Saint-Germain in January 2019 and were holding out for €100m.

However, Everton have managed to prise the Brazilian away for a fraction of the price and Ancelotti is also now close to securing a reunion with Real Madrid outcast James Rodriguez.

Of players that started at least five games in the Champions League last season, only Nicolas Tagliafico (4.5) averages more tackles per game than Allan (3.8).
