Frontman fighting for Liverpool future

Christian Benteke’s future at Liverpool has been cast in doubt just six months after joining the club after it has emerged Jurgen Klopp is looking to sign a new striker, reveals the Daily Mail.

Former Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers signed Benteke from Aston Villa for £32.5m over the summer but it has already been made abundantly clear that the strong Belgian does not feature in Klopp’s immediate plans.

Klopp has reportedly already held discussions with Benteke regarding his role and what more he wants from the striker, but he is already in a race against the clock with the former Borussia Dortmund boss on the hunt for possible replacements.

The 25-year-old has still weighed in with more league goals than any other Liverpool player (6) this season, but his style is evidently not suited to the brand of football that Klopp is trying to impose on the current squad.

In the Premier League this season only Rude Gestede (6.5) averages more aerial duels won per game than Benteke (6.1).
