Juventus sign AC Milan defender

Juventus have announced they have signed AC Milan full-back Mattia De Sciglio on a five-year deal until June 2022.

De Sciglio is the second signing Juventus have made in as many days after completing a deal to land Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny on Wednesday afternoon.

The Italy international has been heavily linked with a move to the Old Lady since last season and has now completed a €12m (£10.7m) switch after entering the final 12 months of his deal with Milan.

Juventus could also end up paying a further €500,000 (£440,000) based on performance related add-ons, although the initial fee will be paid over three financial years.

The Serie A champions’ deal for De Sciglio accelerated after they sanctioned the sale of Leonardo Bonucci to their historical rivals and the 24-year-old has joined in time to fly to America for the club’s pre-season tour with the rest of his new team-mates.

De Sciglio has spent his entire professional career at Milan but has divided opinion among fans in recent years. However, his performances should improve markedly alongside Juventus’ imperious defence.

In the last five Serie A campaigns only Ignazio Abate (408) has attempted more crosses (excluding corners) than De Sciglio (399) of all Milan players.
