Malaga to sign Swansea club-record signing as Sandro replacement
Malaga are on the brink of signing Swansea striker Borja Baston on a season-long loan deal with Sandro Ramirez set to leave the club this summer, reports AS, via Football Espana.
The Spanish side will reluctantly watch Sandro leave the club after just one season due to the fact he has a measly £5.1m release clause in his current deal that Everton are expected to match.
However, they believe they have already found his replacement by handing Baston a way out of the Premier League after a disastrous 12 months at Swansea.
Paul Clement’s side paid a club-record £15m to sign Baston from Atletico Madrid last summer after he scored 18 goals in the 2015/16 campaign on loan at Eibar, but the 24-year-old has barely featured after making no impact whatsoever.
The Spanish striker made 18 league appearances last season but only made four starts in that time and his only goal came in Swansea’s 3-2 defeat to Arsenal in October. Of players that made at least 15 appearances in the Premier League last season, Baston garnered the lowest WhoScored rating (6.11).
