Ruben Loftus-Cheek will inform Chelsea he wants to leave on loan in January after failing to make a significant impression on manager Maurizio Sarri, claims The Daily Mail.
The England international forced his way into Gareth Southgate’s 2018 World Cup squad after becoming a regular on loan at Crystal Palace last season.
Loftus-Cheek returned to Chelsea pre-season early in order to impress Sarri but the Italian has only lamented the 22-year-old’s tacitly naivety.
Chelsea bolstered their midfield options by signing Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic from Napoli and Real Madrid, respectively, over the summer to further restrict Loftus-Cheek's playing time.
Sarri has only started Loftus-Cheek in one game this season in all competitions and that was against Hungarian side Vidi FC in the Europa League.
Southgate omitted Loftus-Cheek from his current England squad at Chelsea’s request in order for the midfielder to complete his recovery from a foot injury.
However, Loftus-Cheek realises he made the wrong move in turning down the chance to leave Chelsea in the summer and will look to force through a loan move for the second half of the season.
Everton are monitoring his future and are expected to rival Palace for his signature if Chelsea grant him his wish to leave.
