Real Madrid consider shock move for Manchester United youngster

Real Madrid have earmarked Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford as an alternative to Harry Kane if they fail to sign the Tottenham star at the end of the season, reports Don Balon.

The reigning European champions are reportedly willing to spend £150m to sign Kane at the end of the season as president Florentino Perez looks to revitalise the club’s offensive options.

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has urged Kane to emulate Francesco Totti’s achievements at Roma with Spurs but the England international has already opened the door to plying his trade outside of the Premier League in the future.

Kane would follow in the footsteps of Luka Modric and Gareth Bale to swap Tottenham for Madrid in recent history but Zinedine Zidane’s side have reportedly checked Rashford as a potential alternative if Kane rebuffs their approach.

The 19-year-old is widely regarded as one of the brightest talents in Europe and Madrid would look to ease him into first team action gradually, which may go against them in their pursuit of the United forward.

Rashford has scored five goals in 11 appearances in all competitions this season.
