Paris Saint-Germain reject Barcelona’s latest offer for Neymar
Neymar’s chances securing a return to Barcelona are looking increasingly unlikely after Paris Saint-Germain rejected the latest offer submitted by his former club, claim French outlet RMC.
Barcelona sent a delegation to France at the start of the week with the objective of getting a deal over the line to re-sign Neymar two years after he left the club.
The LaLiga champions cannot afford to sign Neymar outright and had hoped to include players in a deal to lower PSG’s asking price.
Barcelona’s latest offer included Ivan Rakitic moving to PSG permanently and Ousmane Dembele on a season-long loan, in addition to €130m (£118m).
However, it has now emerged PSG have turned down Barcelona’s proposal and are not interested in any receiving any of their players.
Despite being desperate to offload Neymar before next week’s transfer deadline, PSG only want cash and are looking to recoup their full €220m (£200m) investment.
PSG have left Neymar out of their first three league games of the season in order to focus on securing a move away, but it looks increasingly likely he will stay.
Neymar has endured a relatively difficult two-year stint in France, though he has generally been world class when PSG have managed to get him on the pitch.
The Brazil international has played a direct hand in 54 goals in 37 league matches for PSG but two serious ankle injuries in two years has limited his involvement.
