Chelsea and Juventus eye January move for Manchester United star

Manchester United expect interest in star forward Anthony Martial from Chelsea and Juventus in January, reports Sky Sports.

Jose Mourinho’s side are desperately trying to convince Martial to pledge his long-term future to the club despite a turbulent last couple of years at Old Trafford.

Martial has endured a tough relationship with Mourinho since the Portuguese was appointed manager of United in 2016 and for long spells it seemed the 22-year-old would have to leave.

Mourinho was reportedly keen to sell Martial in the summer in order to fund a move for a winger with a different skillset but the board blocked the Frenchman’s departure.

Martial is regarded as one of the best young forwards in Europe but his existing deal is due to expire in 2020 and United face a real fight to retain his services beyond that.

The Red Devils are currently locked in contract talks with Martial’s camp and Chelsea and Juventus are monitoring discussions with a view to firming up their interest in the near future.

Martial is currently enjoying the best goalscoring form of his career after netting in five successive Premier League matches, something only seven other players have done in United’s history.
