Villas-Boas makes £60m to take Oscar to China

Andre Villas-Boas’ Shanghai SIPG have launched a stunning £60m bid to sign Chelsea midfielder Oscar in January, reports The Daily Telegraph.

The former Chelsea manager was made Sven-Goran Eriksson’s successor at the start of November and is already targeting a raid of his former club as he looks to improve Shanghai SIPG’s third place finish from last season.

Chelsea rejected an offer from Jiangsu Suning, who are also managed by former Chelsea manager Luiz Felipe Scolari, for Oscar last summer, but the Blues will not be able to turn down £60m for the Brazil international this time around.

The 25-year-old has dropped down the pecking order this season under Antonio Conte and is reportedly seriously giving up life in Europe to cash in on the riches in China when the January transfer window opens.

Villa-Boas reportedly tried to bring Oscar to Tottenham before he eventually completed a £25m switch to Chelsea in 2012 and is now keen to bring the Brazilian to China to link up with fellow compatriots Hulk and Elkeson.

Oscar has only started five league games this season but has not featured in a starting XI in the Premier League since Chelsea’s 2-1 defeat at home to Liverpool midway through September, which brought about their chance in formation.
