Former Barcelona winger sets Premier League record

Adama Traore has quickly established himself as a dribbling machine in the last month and Sunday’s 1-0 defeat to Chelsea saw the powerful winger set a record for the most dribbles in a single Premier League game this season.

The 20-year-old, who joined Aston Villa from Barcelona in 2015, is experiencing his second season of Premier League football but it is at Middlesbrough, whom he joined in the summer, where he has started to make any impact in England’s top tier.

Traore struggled to stay fit at Villa last season but has now started in each of Middlesbrough’s last four league matches and has quickly become one of the more eye-catching players in the division.

Middlesbrough were unable to extend their unbeaten run to four matches at the weekend, but Traore was a constant thorn in Chelsea’s side, completing a record 12 dribbles – the most in a Premier League game since Riyad Mahrez completed the same amount against Aston Villa in September 2016.

This isn’t a unusual from Traore, who has already garnered a statically calculated strength of ‘dribbling’. In fact, only Wilfried Zaha (54) and Eden Hazard (52) has completed more dribbles in the Premier League this season than Traore (41), who has only featured in 421 of a possible 1080 minutes of action this season.

However, for all that is exciting about watching the Middlesbrough winger, his end product is non-existent. He is yet to register a goal or an assist and has created just three chances in his seven league appearances.
