Napoli star could leave this summer

The agent of former Chelsea target Kalidou Koulibaly has hinted the defender could leave Napoli in the summer but his future is completely in the hands of club president Aurelio De Laurentiis.

Chelsea failed in their pursuit of the Napoli defender last summer before making a deadline day swoop to re-sign David Luiz from Paris Saint-Germain.

Antonio Conte’s side are cantering towards the Premier League title this season but are still expected to strengthen heavily in the summer and could perhaps rekindle their interest in Koulibaly after his agent, Bruno Satin, refused to rule out a summer exit from the Serie A giants.

“Chelsea were interested but then they signed David Luiz and you also have John Terry and Gary Cahill at the club so there is a lot of competition there,” he told Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli, via The Sun.

“So we will see what happens. A lot of the improvements that Koulibaly has made in his game have been down to the coaching of Maurizio Sarri.

“Whatever happens in the future will depend on the president [Aurelio De Laurentiis] and whether or not he decides to evaluate any offers that may come in.”

Napoli star could leave this summer

The Senegal international has enjoyed another fine campaign for Napoli this season and a summer exit would seem extremely unlikely after he signed a new five-year deal back in September after Laurentiis refused to sell him.

In the last two Serie A campaigns only Francesco Acerbi (332) and Miranda (277) have won possession in the defensive third more times than Koulibaly (247).
