Villa turn down £25m for Amavi

Aston Villa have rejected a £25m bid from China for left-back Jordan Amavi, reports The Daily Telegraph.

Villa owner Tony Xia sensationally revealed on social media network Twitter that the club had turned down a bid as high as £25m for Amavi amid reports the France Under-21 international was poised to join Marseille for £10m.

Amavi, 22, has been regularly linked with a move away from the Championship outfit since recovering from a long-term knee injury that ended his maiden campaign with Villa last season in the Premier League.

Liverpool are one of the sides frequently mooted with Amavi, but it looks like any suitor will have to pay in excess of £25m after Villa rejected an offer in that region from an unnamed Chinese side.

Despite being injured for almost the whole of last season, only two current Villa players have completed more dribbles in the last two campaigns than Amavi (42).
