AC Milan want £18m for Watford target

Watford have had a £5m bid for AC Milan winger M’Baye Niang rejected and may have to pay as much as £18m to bring him back to Vicarage Road, reports The London Evening Standard.

Niang spent the second half of last season on loan at Watford but was reportedly disappointed by Walter Mazzarri’s sacking and had little interest in extending his stay at the club.

However, new manager Marco Silva is hopeful of convincing the former France U21 international to return to Watford this summer but the two clubs are still a long way from agreeing a price.

The 22-year-old has two years remaining on his current Milan deal and it remains to be seen whether he has a future at the Serie A giants following their big spending spree this summer.

Niang made 16 appearances for Watford last season and ended the campaign scoring twice and registering two assists. Despite only playing half of the season, only three Watford players completed more dribbles than Niang (31).
