United lining up Cavani swoop

Manchester United are said to be readying a move for PSG striker Edinson Cavani.

Following the decision not to extend Falcao's stay at Old Trafford and the impending departure of Robin van Persie to Fenerbahce, United are in the market for a new frontman.

Wayne Rooney is currently the only experienced striker on the books at United, with Louis van Gaal keen to strengthen this position after recently bolserting the midfield by acquiring the services of Bastian Schweinsteiger, who could be joined at the the club by Morgan Schneiderlin in the coming days.

And the Dutchman has identified Cavani as a striking target as United continue their summer spending spree.

Any potential deal could see Ángel Di María move the other way after PSG confirmed their interest in the Argentine midfielder.

Cavani, 28, underwhelmed for Uruguay at the Copa America, but enjoyed an impressive end to the season for PSG, netting 13 goals in his final 11 appearances for the Parisian side last season.
