Aston Villa have completed a deal to sign Tottenham striker Emmanuel Adebayor on a season-long loan with a view to a permanent move, the Midlands club has announced.
Adebayor, 31, arrived in Birmingham on Tuesday to finalise talks and complete his medical, as manager Tim Sherwood continues to fill the void left by Christian Benteke’s £32.5 departure.
The move sees Adebayor reunite with the Villa boss, with whom he had great success with during Sherwood’s interim control of Spurs in conclusion of the 2013/14 season.
In fact, 31.4% of Adebayor’s 35 league goals at Spurs came during Sherwood’s time in charge at the north London outfit.
The Togolese striker has entered the final year of his contract at Spurs and Villa will be given the first right to discuss a permanent move at the end of the season.
