Everton are ready to gazump Arsenal’s offer for Jack Wilshere this summer, claims The Daily Mail.
Wilshere is out of contract at the end of the season and recently revealed he is no closer to renewing with the club.
Arsenal reportedly want Wilshere to take a pay-cut in order to get a new long-term deal but the 26-year-old has rejected those terms.
Arsene Wenger’s side handed out big contracts to Mesut Ozil, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan in January and that has reportedly caused tension in the dressing room.
Everton are monitoring the situation and are ready to hand Wilshere an offer that would be in excess of the £80,000-a-week deal Arsenal have tabled.
Wilshere was challenged by Arsene Wenger earlier in the season to prove he has overcome his injury woes and the England international has done that.
However, Arsenal have a significantly better win ratio in the Premier League this season when Wilshere has not started (55%) compared to when he has featured from the off (30%).
