Leicester have £20m bid accepted for Championship whizz

Leicester are closing in on the signing of Norwich starlet James Maddison after having a bid in the region of £20m accepted, reports BBC Sport.

Maddison is free to leave Norwich this summer after the Canaries failed to secure promotion from the Championship last season.

The 21-year-old enjoyed a stunning season and has been heavily linked with moves to several Premier League clubs, including Liverpool and Manchester City.

Leicester, Everton and Southampton have also been monitoring Maddison’s future but the Foxes have firmed up their interest with the first serious offer.

Claude Puel’s side have already bolstered their defensive options by signing Jonny Evans and Ricardo Pereira and are now looking further forward.

Riyad Mahrez is expected to join City this summer and Maddison would be a natural fit to replace the Algeria international.

Maddison played a direct hand in 22 goals in 44 league appearances last season (14 goals, eight assists), while creating the most goalscoring chances in the division (124).
