Julian Draxler has moved a step closer to leaving Wolfsburg after being left out of their 18-man squad that travels to face Bayern Munich on Saturday, according to Bild.
The 23-year-old has been vocal about his desire to leave the club and was even booed by own supporters during Wolfsburg’s 3-2 defeat to Hertha Berlin last weekend.
Draxler has been heavily linked with a move away from Wolfsburg since joining the Bundesliga club from Schalke in 2015 as Kevin de Bruyne’s replacement and would appear to be closing in on his wish after being dropped from the team this weekend by manager Valerien Ismael.
Wolfsburg travel to Bayern only two points above relegation play-off spot with the aim of avoiding defeat at the Allianz Arena for the first time since December 2001 (3-3).
Ismael’s side are reportedly now actively looking to sell Draxler but will not entertain offers lower than €35m (£29.3m) in January for the Germany international. Only Thomas Muller (25) has had more shots on goal without scoring in the Bundesliga than Draxler (24) this season.
