Everton boss Ronald Koeman is looking to put an end to their woes up front by bringing former Liverpool striker Andy Carroll back to Merseyside, reports The Sun.
Only two teams have scored fewer Premier League goals than Everton this season and Koeman has already received the backing of majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri after the club’s poor start to the season.
Everton failed to replace Romelu Lukaku sufficiently in the summer and Koeman is determined to strengthen in the January transfer window, targeting a move for West Ham’s Carroll.
The former England international has 18 months left to run on his current deal and West Ham boss Slaven Bilic has already warned the injury-hit striker he will need to prove his fitness before earning a new deal.
Carroll endured a nightmare 18-month stint at Liverpool following a £35m move from Newcastle in 2011, but that has not discouraged Everton from wanting to hand him a way back to Merseyside.
Despite only making four Premier League appearances this season, only Christian Benteke (48) and James Tarkowski (35) have won more aerial duels than Carroll (34).
