Bayern star pens new deal

Bayern Munich have announced Manuel Neuer has signed a new five-year deal keeping him at the club until June 2021.

Neuer, 30, still had the best part of three years remaining on his previous deal at the Allianz Arena but the Bundesliga giants have moved to secure his long-term future.

Reports had emerged suggesting Bayern manager Pep Guardiola would try to take Neuer with him when he replaces Manuel Pellegrini as Manchester City manager at the end of the season, however those rumours have now been put to bed.

The German World Cup winner has been considered the best goalkeeper in the world since joining Bayern from Schalke in 2011.  In fact, since August 2013, only Gianluigi Buffon (55) has kept more clean sheets across Europe’s top five leagues than Neuer (54).
