Watford set to sign Benfica winger

Watford are on the verge of making their eighth summer signing with the arrival of Benfica winger Andre Carrillo thought to be imminent, reports The Daily Telegraph

Marco Silva is looking to complete a huge squad overhaul at Vicarage Road before the transfer window closes later this month and is now on the verge of securing a reunion with Carrillo.

The Peru international previously worked under Silva at Sporting and will join Watford on an initial season-long loan deal with the option to make the switch permanent for a further £13.3m.

Carrillo has struggled to make any significant impression at Benfica since making the controversial switch from rivals Sporting 12 months ago but now the 26-year-old will have the chance to impress in the Premier League.

The Peruvian only started three league games for Benfica last term and was limited to a further 17 appearances from the substitute bench. In that time he scored two goals and registered one assist.
