Leicester midfielder set for England call

Leicester City midfielder Danny Drinkwater is set to be rewarded with his fine form this season with an England call-up, according to the Daily Telegraph.

Drinkwater, 25, has been one of the unsung hero’s in Leicester’s stunning campaign, and while he will not be part of the 40 players attending the get-together at St George’s Park on Thursday, he is under consideration by England manager Roy Hodgson for the next England squad.

Spurs defender Kieran Tripper is also believed to be in the thoughts of the England manager for next month’s friendlies against Holland and Germany.

Drinkwater has been in superb form in the middle of Leicester’s midfield alongside N’Golo Kante this season and any England call-up will be justifiable when you consider the Foxes are currently five points clear at the top of the Premier League.

In fact, no player in the Premier League has won possession more times in the midfield third than Drinkwater this season (126).
