West Bromwich Albion have entered shock talks with free-agent Abou Diaby following his release from Arsenal this summer, according to the Birmingham Mail.
Diaby, 29, made a promising start to his Arsenal career and even drew comparisons to Gunners’ legend Patrick Vieira, but has seen the last half of his career savaged by numerous long-term injuries.
The French midfielder has only managed 23 Premier League starts in the last four years and last turned out for his national side in 2012 and has only played 16 minutes of a possible 6840 in England's top-flight since August 2013.
West Brom have only made one signing so far this summer and desperately need to strengthen to avoid being left behind their Premier League rivals.
