Newcastle are confident of securing a £8.5m deal to sign Norwich winger Jacob Murphy, according to The Daily Mirror.
The Magpies have been left frustrated by their progress in the summer transfer window after notably missing out on Chelsea youngster Tammy Abraham, but are hopeful Murphy’s arrival will kickstart their recruitment drive.
Newcastle face competition from Southampton and Crystal Palace for the 22-year-old, who featured for England at the U21 European Championships earlier this summer.
Championship side Norwich have slapped an £8m price tag on Murphy’s head and Newcastle are pressing ahead with a deal in a bid to fend off their Premier League rivals.
Murphy enjoyed his best campaign to date for Norwich last season after playing a direct hand in 15 goals from 37 league appearances (nine goals, six assists).
