Everton make fresh bid for attacking target

Everton have lodged a fresh £45m bid for Swansea star Gylfi Sigurdsson, reports the Daily Mail.

The Toffees have been strongly linked with a move for the Iceland international for much of the summer, though the Swans are digging their heels in over the player’s valuation.

Swansea consider Sigurdsson to be worth £50m and have made it clear that they will not sell for less than that this summer.

However, Everton are now hoping that a bid of £45m may convince the south Wales side to cash in on Sigurdsson after they recently saw a £40m bid rejected for the 27-year-old.

Ronald Koeman’s side play a Euorpa League qualifier against Slovakian side Ruzomberok on Thursday and the Dutchman is hoping to have signed the creative star by then.

Sigurdsson, who registered the third most assists (13) in the Premier League last season, was left off of Swansea’s pre-season tour of the US, with the club stating that the player was not in the “right frame of mind” to travel.

Swansea are hoping to raise the funds to sign Nacer Chadli and Wilfried Bony from West Brom and Manchester City, respectively.
